Team USO
The Marine Corps Marathon™ (MCM) is one of the most prestigious marathons in the country. It is held each fall in Washington, D.C., and attracts 30,000 runners. The Marine Corps Marathon has the title, 'The People's Marathon,' and is nicknamed the 'Marathon of the Monuments' because it passes many historic sites, such as the Lincoln, Washington, World War II, and Jefferson Memorials. This year, the USO has been invited to be an MCM Charity Partner. The USO provides vital support to service members and their families in the form of USO centers, entertainment and morale boosting programs and services.
We are currently pre-registering runners to join Team USO, which will guarantee your place in the 2008 Marine Corps Marathon. We have secured 100 numbers for this prestigious event, and we’d like to invite all runners interested in adding to their marathon experience by raising funds for a worthy cause to apply for one of our slots. By helping to raise funds for the USO, you’ll receive guaranteed entry to the race, as well as a variety of other benefits listed below. We'd be honored to have you join our team!
If you get into the Marine Corps Marathon on your own, but would like to raise funds for the USO anyway, let us know and we’ll treat you just like one of our sponsored runners (race support, etc). All proceeds raised by Team USO will go directly to the organization to help fund vital programs and services for our men and women in uniform and their families.

Charity Athlete Program
We’re asking each USO runner to commit to a minimum fundraising goal of $1,000. To start off your fundraising effort, and to help defray the USO’s costs (in order to keep as much funding to support the work we're doing for the troops), we are asking each of our runners to make their first donation in the amount of $75. This money will be credited to your fund-raising tally for the marathon.
By helping to raise funds for the USO, you’ll receive a variety of benefits. Perhaps more importantly, you will have made a positive difference in the lives of our troops and their families.
